The NFT space is no stranger to illegitimate actors, and NFT royalty Yuga Labs has once again had their Discord servers hacked. According to the company, the breach occurred last week, when the attackers made off with 200ETH (or $360,000) worth of NFTs.
In order to facilitate the mass digital theft, Boris Vagner, the project’s community manager, Discord account was hacked. This allowed the attackers to post phishing links in both official BAYC and Otherside Discord channels.
NFTherder first reported the scandal on Saturday, stating that 145 ETH had been stolen from four separate wallets. Approximately eleven hours later, and after the total amount stolen had reached 200 ETH, the Bored Ape Twitter account posted an official acknowledgment of the attack.
Similarly, the same attackers were also able to hack into the Discord server of Spoiled Banana Society NFT (founded by Vagner and his brother Richard), but in this instance, the phishing messages were quickly removed from the server.
According to reports, this is the third and most significant attack on the Yuga Labs NFT ecosystem. The most recent was the hack of the BAYC Instagram and Discord channels, which led to the posting of fake mint sites for Otherside’s ‘Otherdeeds’ land sale.
